If you have an accident and you need to have your car removed from the road and taken to a shop, then you know a tow truck will come out and do this for you. If your car is still drivable, then the car can be picked up by a tow truck that can lift one end, and the car can be towed on two of its own wheels. However, if the wheels are all possibly affected, the tow truck driver will come get it on a truck that tows it without any of the wheels on the ground. So, you are going to need to let them know if there is a chance that they need to come out with the truck that carries the whole car. Along with this reason for calling out a tow truck, there are also many other things they can help you with, and here are some of them:
Your car broke down
If your car broke down and won't drive, then you'll need to get it to a shop so a mechanic will be able to repair it for you. If your car is just acting up and you feel comfortable driving it to the shop, then this is fine. However, if you have any concerns about the situation getting worse while going to the shop, if you are going to have to drive the car a good distance to get it to the shop, or if you aren't sure what's going on with it at all, then calling a tow truck to get it is the safest and smartest move you can make.
You need the tire replaced
If you have a flat tire and you aren't in a position of changing the tire, then a tow truck driver can come to change the tire for you. You may know how to change a tire, but the car may be somewhere where you just don't feel safe changing it on your own, and this would be another example of a time when a tow truck can come help. They can change the tire safely because they know how to do so, and they have the equipment, such as road flares and cones, to help create a safer space. If necessary, they can tow the car off the road and move it to a safe place then change the tire safely.
You have a broken windshield
If you have your windshield gets broken while driving, or even if you come out to your car and find that something or someone has broken the windshield, the damage may make it unsafe and even illegal for you to drive the car. In this case, you want to have a tow truck come out to take your car in where you can have the windshield repaired or replaced.
